Houghton Lake

Some of the best memories of my life have been at my Aunts cottages in Michigan.
I have been going to Houghton Lake since I was born. This photo of the pontoons was taken there. I love the water. I want to retire on a Lake some day. Rustic is fine.
More of the lake to come...

Cool photo! I will always remember wading past those pontoon boats to get out to deeper water.

Hi Sally. I've spent many happy months in Houghton Lake over the years as my best friends in the US live there.

Glad you like it too. Happy blogging.

Thank you, it's a beautiful area isn't it? I love it up there.

That cottage taught me to love simplicity. We got by without hot water, without t.v., without a phone, without a toaster... I remember washing our hair in the lake! (I know - now that we're more environmentally conscious we'd never think of it.) And unbelieveably we collected no more trash than we could take home in the trunk of the car. In today's plastic and foam society (let alone our options and excesses) we wouldn't last a day!
